What We Do

Welcome to the FarmHack DIY Hackathon guide.  With this document, we will lead you step by step toward the successful organization of your future open innovation event (i.e. hackathon).

It is important for the organizer, you the reader, to keep in mind, that we FarmHack (and this will be applicable in the near future to you too) are not mere ‘event organizers’. Rather, we do targeted high quality events that contribute to our mission of: propelling agriculture forward with innovation opportunities for the farmer and catalyzing tech adoption in the farm.

In summary, FarmHack.NL is a Dutch farmer-centric ecosystem builder:

  • We mobilize tech savy coders, creative designers and committed business developers to help farmers gain more actionable insights from their data.

  • We ignite data- and tech-driven open online/offline collaborations between tech entrepreneurs, farmers and domain experts.

  • We wrangle data, build APIs and prototypes, and host hackathons with one goal in mind: better tech for farmers.

  • We believe in the socialization of technology and use a peer-to-peer approach to tackle challenges of the farm in a self-directed, collaborative manner.

Our purpose with this guide

We have developed this toolkit to show you how hackathons, community building and other open innovation & education processes such as peer-to-peer learning, might help you on your journey towards data-driven innovation in agriculture!

We at FarmHack have built a rich and diverse ecosystem around farmers consisting of tech savy coders, creative designers and committed business developers. We are thrilled to welcome you here and more excited to help you build your very own agri-tech community!
